Vince's Father's '65 Galaxie Sportsman

Comments from Vince:
When I was in High School my Dad bought an old 1965 Ford Galaxie Police Cruiser. He drove it to work for awhile but it wound up sitting in the yard rusting away when he bought his NEW truck. He decided one day to enter it into a demolition derby at the Beumont Speedway in Texas. Upon arrival at the track the promotors encouraged him to enter it into the bomber race. After finishing not so well in the heat he started at the back and finished (3rd) in the feature! So we decided to take it back home.

Didn't take him long to get the hang of it. I had the desire to learn to weld so, with a bunch of oil field pipe laying in the back yard and the encouragement from my Dad, you guessed it! We were off to the races. We painted a rough looking #4 on it the first night but got a little fancier later on with our "rocking 4".

I built this replica for him several year's ago which he proudly displays in a glass case in the living room. The only model I could find was this 1966 Ford but I made the best of it.We had plans to go on to bigger and better things but that old cancer worm got him down and pretty much disabled him. Only got a couple of old photos to go with it. But anyway, here's to you, DAD!

The REAL Car!
