"This model depicts the car Rex drove in the 1961 Daytona 500. Rex won 7 of his 28 races in 1961. I actually saw Rex race at Richmond in the fall of 1961. He came in third that day. I was 10 years old and seeing that race, which my dad surprised me with that morning, made me a life long stock car racing fan. This was the first year the 409 engine was used."
