Bill Elliott's 1984 "boxy" T-Bird - REWORKED

Further Comment from James:

a re-working of my Bill Elliot T-Bird. I updated the model by adding the black separation stripe (between the red and white), painting the rims copper-ish, painting the window net and head light covers black to bring the model accurately to the real car.

Comment from James:

"..I found this pic on Cyberwombats website of a Bill Elliot 82 T-Bird in 84 colors. Thought it was interesting. As Bill didn’t pick up Coors sponsorship until the tail end of the 83 season this car was run either then, or sometime in 84. My only guess is that it was a back-up car to his 83-84 (much sleeker) cars and was run due the other cars being wrecked.

Anyway, as I had a 81 T-Bird kit (the Earnhardt one) that I bought off e-bay (it didn’t come with decals or window glass-first use of acetate for me!) I decided to get a set of Yesterday’s decals and build this car. I really like this body style, and think it might also be a good starting point for a Mirada conversion, as it's boxier. I think I’m finally getting weaned off my Mopar fixation..."

Interesting car! I did some checking, and it looks like he hauled out the old body style for at least one short track race in 84 – the spring Bristol race. I found shots in the 1984 UMI yearbook. - Mr NASCAR
