Kyle Petty’s 1982 Hoss Ellington Monte Carlo

Comment from James:

".. In 1982 Kyle Petty ran about 8 races for owner Hoss Ellington. Ellington had a Regal, this Monte Carlo and possibly also a Gran Prix. According to “Cars of the King” (pg 144) Kyle drove the Regal as #1 with UNO/STP sponsorship, just once and also once as #42, and it was painted just like a Petty car. i.e. Petty blue/STP red.

Kyle also drove the Monte Carlo as #1 in one race and as #42 in a few races. On page 140 of CotK is a picture of what looks like a #42 Gran Prix with UNO/STP sponsorship which is what I based this Monte Carlo on, as I have only seen a b/w picture of it. The model is Terry LaBonte’s 83 MC with a SMH resin 81 Monte nose piece grafted on. The nose is slightly narrower than the body, so some sanding and filling is needed to make it fit. The decals are a combination of the Yesterdays #1 Ellington/UNO/STP sheet, and the 42’s came from somewhere else. The paint is TS-23 Tamyia Petty blue and Testor’s neon orange."
