Ron Fellows' 2010 #88 Canadian Tire Nationwide Chevy Impala

Comment from Jeff:
"Ron Fellows drove the #88 JR Motorsports Canadian Tire Chevy Impala in the Nationwide Series in Montreal on August 29, 2010. He started 15th and finished 30th after some engine trouble. He only completed 53 of the 77 laps in the 2010 Napa Auto Parts 200 Presented by Dodge.

Decals are from Brandon Miller which fit great. The only thing I would've changed about these decals is the red stripe on the sides weren't long enough. The decals were printed to the top of the side skirts, whereas the real car had red stripes all the way down. No biggie, I managed to fix it. Other decals I used on this for tires and other details were Slixx and Powerslide. I couldn't put the decals on the lower side panels because they were printed in black and most of them wouldn't show up on the black border.

Car was painted with 3 different paint shades. The black and white were painted with Krylon Fusion Gloss Black and White. The red is Tamiya TS-49 Bright Red which seems to be the closest match according to the reference pics. I clear coated it twice with Future.

Some of the details I added were purely because I wanted this to look as real as possible. So what you see here is as close as I could get to the race day pictures. For example, the seat. Ron used the Joie of Seating seat so I added those decals (took me forever to find out that tidbit of information). I put styrene strips on the driver's side to extend the side skirts. Added some wire for the MSD boxes and ignition. Added more wire for the radio on the steering wheel. Drilled out some styrene rod, painted it gold and glued it on the steering wheel for the coupling. I added a pop rivet, modified, for the fuel intake. Also added aluminum tubing for the overflow tube. Made my own antenna using styrene and a guitar string. The gold GPS-type antenna was also scratch built using styrene. Drilled out the passenger side side skirt and added a resin passenger side exhaust piece from Tom S. Cut a piece of clear plastic from the scrap of a boxed toy and used it for the passenger side window vent, using a Powerslide decal. The last detail was one I almost missed and that's the windshield wiper mount. I used styrene rods and painted it gold for that. ".
