Frank Secrist's Ford powered '53 Studebaker Permatex Daytona entry

Note From Chuck:
"Frank Secrist built up this '53 Studebaker for the '61 Permatex race at Daytona. He sat on the pole and the front end lifted going in to the first turn and the car went airborne crashing him out of the race. He repaired the car and painted it silver for the '62 race. He again sat on the pole with the car being equipped with a tri-power 390 Ford built by Holman-Moody. He stayed on the track and finished in 4th place. The streamlined headlight covers on the real car were actually '37 Chevy headlight housings turned backwards and attached to the body.

I used the AMT Studebaker kit, Ford engine from the '60 Starliner kit. My resin tire/wheels and I did all the decal work.

Additional information on the real car is available by visiting this website: http://stevemginn.home.comcast.net/~stevemginn/secriststudebaker/ "

(Note from Mr NASCAR: - As with Mike Madlinger, Chuck Poi was an inspiration to me to get into NASCAR modelling after seeing his work in Toledo in the '80's and '90's. Chuck is an original DarkSider! Chuck was also a major contributor to Motor Racing Replica News Magazine in its heyday, as the resident NASCAR expert. Thanks for sharing these great models, Chuck!" )
