Darrell Waltrip's WESTERN AUTO Lumina

Note From Bill:
"Got this for a song at a recent model show and am pretty pleased the way it came out. One of the old "+" kits, complete with driver and pit tools. The picture on the box top looks nothing like the kit, it almost appears as if early prototype shots were used and it looks like the graded grey stripes were hand-made. Thankfully the finished product looks much better.

Basic build, the body is a very tight fit onto the chassis and I carved the muddy looking Goodyear embossing off the tires and used Slixx decals instead. The decals aged VERY well considering they were 15 years old, complete with beer and tobacco marks. There seemed to be an extra coating over the sheet as the borders of the individual marks were visible, but they had to be trimmed out. Once again Tamiya sprays were the paints of choice, the whole body was done in Pure White, then Bright Red applied below the beltline and Black on the back end. The big mistake I made was masking halfway across the roof, and the color difference is still visible even through the foil on the roof number."

(Note from Mr NASCAR:...Bill is a fellow Canuck, in fact he lives in my old stompin' grounds, in Eastern Ontario...)
