NASCAR Models by BILL COULTER!!!

Richard Petty's 1970 Superbird

Comment from Bill:
"The 70 Petty Superbird was built in 1971 from a Jo-Han kit a modeling buddy had started hacking on. He was using balsa wood as panel material when he lost interest in the project. I removed all the balsa wood and redid all the modifications in sheet styrene. The models uses parts and pieces from many sources including, MPC Firebird, MPC stock car series as well as the original Jo-Han kit.

You can clearly see Richard's patented one-hand driving style used prior to the near fatal crash at Darlington after which a window net was mandatory...and if you squint you might be able to make out that wet shop rag in his mouth."

(Note from Mr NASCAR:
"And another Luminary in the world of NASCAR Modelling graces the Gallery! Bill Coulter is one of the legends of this hobby, having appeared many times over the years in Scale Auto, and he has published excellent books on NASCAR modelling - including "The Cars of the King", and "Building and Detailing Scale Model Stock Cars". I am very proud that Bill has sent us these pictures to share!!")
