"The 70 Petty Superbird was built in 1971 from a Jo-Han kit a modeling
buddy had started hacking on. He was using balsa wood as panel material
when he lost interest in the project. I removed all the balsa wood and
redid all the modifications in sheet styrene. The models uses parts and
pieces from many sources including, MPC Firebird, MPC stock car series
as well as the original Jo-Han kit. You can clearly see Richard's
patented one-hand driving style used prior to the near fatal crash at
Darlington after which a window net was mandatory...and if you squint
you might be able to make out that wet shop rag in his mouth."
