decals by BULLRING GRAPHIX!

"Dave ran this car for several seasons in the mid to late 70s mainly in the Northeast, but he would also venture to Martinsville and some of the other more southern tracks to run with the Late Model Sportsman cars. There are lots of interesting stories about the Dion brothers racing career in the book "Life Wide Open" by Dave Moody and Dave Dion and published by Coastal 181.
The build was relatively straightforward with the hardest part sanding off the half-vinyl roof on the AMT Mercury Cougar body. I also modified the front bumper to try to get rid of the 5mph safety bumper appearance. Some pics of the real car show an early 1972-73 bumper on the front. The chassis is from an AMT TBird cup car with the roll cage uppers replaced and some Evergreen sheet for the rear tin kit.
Tires and wheels are from the Cup kit with some weathering and rubbing applied after putting on some Slixx vintage tire decals."
